Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Interns

Elizabeth Aldrich | Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Practicum Student
University of Tennessee School of Social Work '14

Elizabeth Aldrich is from Jackson, Tennessee. She graduated from Union University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in May of 2011. Elizabeth is a new resident of Nashville and is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, from where she will graduate in 2014.

In 2008, Elizabeth attended treatment at Laureate Eating Disorders Program in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for an eating disorder she had been struggling with since her freshman year of high school. Her journey and recovery has led her here to Nashville, where she is very passionate about advocating for and helping young women.

Upon receiving her Master’s degree, Elizabeth plans to practice in a treatment facility and eventually pursue her LCSW licensure. Elizabeth is currently the Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Practicum Student through the UT College of Social Work and is thrilled about being a part of EDCT and what all they have to offer!

Amelia Brown | Fall 2012 Social Media and Office Assistant
Belmont University '13

Amelia Brown grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has lived in Nashville for three years. As an upcoming senior at Belmont University, she is currently studying psychology and nutrition.

After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school for a Master's in occupational therapy. She hopes to practice in an inpatient rehabilitation center, assisting both pediatrics and geriatrics. Meeting and learning about new people are what she enjoys most.

Amelia learned about EDCT by attending a presentation given by Courtney Cuden, EDCT's Events & Outreach Coordinator. Amelia's internship begins August 2012.

Kendall Cooke | Fall 2012 Social Media and Office Assistant
Belmont University '12

Kendall Cooke is originally from Granite Falls, North Carolina. She is a second-year senior at Belmont University and is studying Songwriting and Music Business.

In high school, Kendall pole-vaulted for the track team and attended culinary school during her senior year of high school. She went on to pole-vault and run track on scholarship for Lenoir-Rhyne University for two years. There she was studying Health & Exercise Science and Sociology. She felt led to a change but her journey to Nashville was a trying one, as she began struggling with an eating disorder in early 2009.

In 2010, Kendall attended treatment at the Renfrew Center. Her struggle and recovery led her into a passionate pursuit of music, which proved to be the catalyst that led her to Belmont University during the 2010-2011 school year. She desires to somehow reach the hearts of her peers and listeners through her music.

The Fall/Winter 2012 semester will be Kendall's fifth semester as an intern with EDCT. She has been an integral part of the Youth Speakers Bureau program, in particular, and received the 2011 Visionary Award from EDCT for her efforts.
